»scorbutic

scorbutic means "afflicted with scurvy", a terrific word (and one I am surprised I never saw before in Captain Haddock's irascible vocabulary). I knew it from the Italian adjective scorbutico, meaning "irritable, grouchy", but had not yet seen it in English; when I saw this word on today's A.Word.A.Day I had a sudden realisation of its familiarity.
