A few months ago, I re-read parts of "On The Road", but didn't finish the whole novel -- I simply couldn't!

the fuss over Kerouac did not move Cheryl Salem, a 44-year-old mother of two who grew up in the house where Kerouac was born and called in the ad for the apartment to the Lowell Sun.
