In London's Underground, one hears the admonishment "Mind the gap!" One hardly expects the same advice at the Tate Modern, but then one doesn't anticipate Doris Salcedo's Crevasse installation in the famous Turbine Hall.

According to Salcedo, the fissure is "bottomless... as deep as humanity".

However, it appears to be around three feet at its deepest point.
